This Is What Happens When People Stop Being Polite…
…and start getting Real.
The Real World: Washington, D.C.!
If you live in D.C., you've probably read this already on a dozen different blogs, but I don't care. The Real World has been one of my favorite television shows since I was 11 years old and saw The Real World: Seattle. Both of my parents worked, and my mom wasn't there to monitor what I was watching, so I kind of went straight from Nickelodeon to MTV without any sort of transition period. It probably damaged my psyche and personal growth considerably, but whatever, remember Undressed?
I just found the concept of 7 (8 in recent seasons) strangers living together and getting to know each other fascinating to watch. They fought about religion and politics, dealt with alcoholism and AIDS, and issues such as coming out and unrequited love. The show has largely devolved into carefully manipulated story lines centered around drunken hookups and bar fights, but the core of the show still remains, and The Real World is still one of the most groundbreaking series on television.
I'm so excited that the show is coming to the district. It has been basically confirmed that the Real World house is located at 20th and S NW near Dupont Circle. I plan on semi-stalking the cast at least a few times.
