Owen Pallett: New Single, Dan Deacon Remix, and U.S. Tour
Let’s get one thing straight right at the outset. The title of Owen “Final Fantasy” Pallett’s new single, “Lewis Takes His Shirt Off” — about to be released as a 12″ by Domino on June 22 — has nothing to do with legendary comedian Jerry Lewis stripping. “Lewis” is simply a character in Pallett’s recent semi-concept album, Heartland, that’s all. Jeez, you people are freaks, where do you get these ideas?! Now that we’ve gotten that unpleasant image planted in our heads, let’s move on to sunnier subjects.
There seems to be a veritable bonanza of Pallett-related activity on the horizon; in addition to the aforementioned tune, there are no less than five remixes that will be made available on the same 12″ release, reworking not only “Lewis Takes His Shirt Off,” but also “Keep The Dog Quiet” and “Midnight Directives.” But if you can’t wait until late June to get a Final Fantasy fix, Dan Deacon’s remix is being made available as a free download right now. And depending on your location, you can head out and see Pallet in action imminently, as he’s just beginning a North American tour that will take him into mid-May, traveling across the U.S. and up into his native Canada. Now are you satisfied?
