All Middle Earth/Hobbit jokes aside, you have to hand it to Elijah Wood for being hip enough to start his own label, Simian Records, and then signing the likes of The Apples In Stereo, Denver, CO’s psychedelic indie pop-sters. My own Colorado roots bear no bias with the Apples’ genuinely awesome new single “Dance Floor,” off their upcoming album Travellers Through Space and Time. Full of sci-fi effects, pumping electronic beats, and vocoder-fed harmonies, the track takes The Apples and their listeners to a disco of the future where everyone is apt to boogie. A dedicated label owner, Elijah stars in the just-released video for “Dance Floor,” which lead singer Rob Schneider describes as “a time-travel caper involving Wood as an alternate-universe gym teacher version of himself and Schneider as a mad scientist who lives to groove.” The video is super fun, and gets you psyched for the release of Travellers, which will likely transport you to a parallel reality of moon boots and mad beats.
