Gears of War 3 Officially Announced With Debut Trailer

Epic Games had their big reveal spoiled but the Gears of War 3 announcement is still really huge and has many people excited.
Gears of War 3, as a franchise, is still one of the biggest ones out there even though some were disappointed with the sequel. Epic Games was looking to make a huge announcement for the third game in the trilogy but it was spoiled on several different fronts. Originally Edge Online leaked possible details from the unannounced game. Then a spotlight image popped up on Xbox LIVE after the time that Cliff Bleszinski was supposed to make the announcement on Jimmy Fallon but was bumped. Finally last night, Cliff was able to make the official announcement and also rolled out a debut trailer for Gears of War 3.
It will take place after the events of Gears 2 and will feature new weapons like a double barrel shotgun that is shown in the new trailer. Also in the trailer we get to see a first for the franchise, female soldiers. One big reveal that we're excited about and that was not part of the world debut was later confirmed by Cliff via Twitter. GOW 3 will feature 4 player co-op in the story. Whether or not the announcement lost its big punch because of all of the leaks, a lot of people are really excited about the announcement and we can't wait to hear more in the next year.
Gears of War 3 will be released exclusively for Xbox 360 on April 8, 2011. Check out the debut trailer after the break.Read more…
