Bungie Signs New IP Deal With Activision
Bungie shocked everybody today when they announced they signed an exclusive deal with Activision for a new unannounced IP.
Bungie is busy finishing up Halo:Reach and getting ready for the upcoming multiplayer beta but had some extra time to sign an exclusive deal with Activision. The unexpected announcement was made earlier today and joins the two juggernauts for an exclusive 10 year deal that will produce a new Bungie IP. Bungie has announced that this will in no way affect the release of Halo:Reach and that they are committed to its development to the end. Brian Jarrad,Bungie's Community Director, says the new game will not be revealed this year. One of the most interested points mentioned in the press release is that "Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices." The most obvious takeaway from that statement is that the new Bungie IPwill be heading to the PlayStation 3. This is huge news for PS3 fans and must be a huge hit to the Xbox 360 fans. I think this is great news for gamers on all platforms and Ican't wait to see what Bungie comes out with next.
