Pixies Back For More With Doolittle Tour

Are you among the unlucky masses of Pixies fans who didn’t get a chance to catch the alt-rock icons when they toured the U.S. last fall, playing their classic Doolittle album from front to back? Maybe they didn’t hit a venue anywhere near you, or maybe you were just trampled by an onslaught of lifelong Pixies obsessives scarfing up tickets as soon as they became available. Well, now you’ll have a second chance — after showing Europe some turbo-charged Doolittle power, the Pixies are bringing it back to these shores, hitting a string of states throughout September with their Doolittle show.
The pre-sale that starts next Monday on the band’s website also serves as the site’s soft launch. It’s hard to believe, but this is the first time the band has ever had an official online presence of it’s very own (don’t forget, they were out of commission for much of the ’90s and ’00s). It will enable them to reach out to fans like never before, while lifting the long finger to the Ticketmaster/Live Nation evil empire, by handling ticketing and promotion for select shows strictly in-house, and taking suggestions for set lists.
The shows will feature not only the full complement of Doolittle tunes, but also the b-sides of the album’s singles, tracks like “Weird At My School” and “Dancing The Manta Ray.” And to sweeten the pot even further, there’s a fairly intense stage setup that involves multiple giant eyeballs and a slew of specially prepared film pieces to be projected along with the songs. Multi-media Doolittle is on the way, get it while it’s hot.
