If you’re interested enough in The Vaselines to have even read this far in the first place, it’s a safe bet that you already know they’re set to release their first album in more than two decades, Sex With an X, on September 14th. The exultations of joy from Vaselines fans upon hearing the aforementioned news can still be heard ringing in our ears, but American admirers of these cult heroes were soon visited by a significant amount of sadness upon learning that no U.S. dates had been announced on the Sex With an X tour. Until now, that is.
Yankee lovers of the Glaswegian wonders will breathe a heavy sigh of relief upon discovering that the band has indeed now announced a string of North American dates as part of their tour. They’ll be covering everyplace from Washington, D.C. to Montreal on a trek that keeps them busy throughout the month of October. It has also been alleged that Eugene and Frances will be back for more in the future, but in the meantime, they’ve put up a sneak peek at “I Hate the ’80s,” one of the tracks from the new album, available for streaming or download from their website.
