Link: Review from Albino! @ The Elbo Room, SF 7/23/10

I saw my first taste of the band Albino! this past Friday night at the Elbo Room, and our friends at PATD have a review from the show.
It’s nice to catch this band in a small venue. With such a huge sound, you can be sure you’ll be seeing them around the bay for as long as they are willing to conduct the experiment. Fela would be proud. You can catch this ensemble with their brand of afro-centric dance grooves at the Elbo Room, since they just started as artist-in-residency there on Friday nights.
I’ll be honest; I had fun but I wasn’t blown away musically. Maybe I was more concerned with hanging out with my friends and having a good time, but I found the delivery to be a bit flat for what I’d expect out of proper afrobeat. Anyone else find their feet moving a bit more than I did? Jury’s still out on this band for me and my friends had good feedback compared to the other times they had caught the band…
