Deer Tick Auctions Tour Bus for Charity

Rhode Island roots-rock band Deer Tick announced today that it is auctioning off the tour bus that it used for all of its gigging transportation in 2009 in order to support relief efforts for flood victims in Pakistan. According to the band, “a generous portion” of the sale, which is being conducted through eBay, will be donated to Oxfam America for their relief efforts.
“The situation over there is so critical, but it seems that very few people are aware of it,” said Deer Tick frontman John McCauley in a recent press release. “Maybe it’s the stigma with that part of the world, I’m not sure. Either way, we feel really strongly that people should be more aware of the situation and hopefully we can help with that.”

The bus, a 2001 GMC Savana school bus nicknamed “The Flagship” after Deer Tick’s Born on Flag Day album, has 122,134 miles and an eight-cylinder engine. Bidding opened at $500 (and is already up to $510), but the bus can also be had for $2,000 using the “buy it now” feature. Additionally, Deer Tick will be accepting donations to Oxfam at its merch booth each night during their upcoming U.S. tour (dates below).
