Once “Britten” Twice Shy, Kenny Britt, Steve Johnson, And Other Hot Hands On The Rise

This week I want to make a short mention to a couple of trending receivers that aren’t showing signs of slowing down.
Every year we always see this in fantasy football: Miles Austin and Mike Sims-Walker in 2009, Greg Jennings in 2008, Marques Colston in 2007 and so on, so the prudent move is to get their names out in the open a bit more, instead of the normal mention in Waiver Wire pieces.
Let’s take a look at a couple of hot hands trending upward as we approach the mid way point of the season.
Bengals receiver Jordan Shipley was on and off in the early part of the season but is becoming more and more of an offensive option in Cincinnati, and he is looking as if his stock as a viable slot threat is rising. If the Bengals continue to look his way—and it appears that could be the case—he would be a great WR3 or 4 option, or an injury replacement.
A couple of weeks ago I began mentioning Buffalo receiver Steve Johnson and Titans receiver Kenny Britt as viable WW grabs, and talked a bit about their potential to become trending players.
Well, I wasn’t wrong, and in case you haven’t been paying attention, these two guys are quickly becoming the new kids on the block.
Britt and Johnson are the real deal.
Kenny Britt is a huge physical receiver who has flat out earned the respect of his quarterbacks, coaching staff, and 40 percent of fantast owners; a percentage that has nearly double in just less than two weeks. He’s a great option for nearly every league format, since the guy can catch, is a favored target in Tennessee, and can score.
Steve Johnson is another surprise that many people didn’t expect as well, and his stock has greatly increased with the addition of Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. Johnson creates a lot of issues for guys covering him, particularly in the red zone, and he has become a viable end zone target each week. Remember: this is a guy who is averaging less than 30 percent ownership, despite scoring a TD in his last four straight games…he’s more legit than most people think he is right now.
Other receivers to keep an eye on moving forward:
David Gettis – Carolina Panthers
Jason Avant – Philadelphia Eagles
Jordy Nelson – Green Bay Packers
James Jones – Green Bay Packers
Mike Williams – Seattle Seahawks
Any questions you may have about these or other receivers, feel free to leave at the bottom.
