Philadelphia duo Sun Airway dropped their debut album, Nocturne of Exploded Chandelier, today. The former members of the Quaker City indie group the A-Sides have been working on this album for roughly three years, and it’s filled to the brim with lush, blissed-out pop music. A sort of stoned U2 with drum machines and ethereal keyboards, Sun Airway are sure to please fans of the Animal Collective paradigm. Nocture never strays much from it, with all of its ten tracks feeling more or less made from the same mold, but maybe that just means the kids know what they like: mellow beats, washed out guitars, dancing synths and mellow, if soaring, vocals. Not so bad, is it? Check out an interview with Sun Airway from the fine folks over at Pitchfork.
