Video: Introducing Bobby Long – Debut Album out February 1st
Say what you will about the teen mania-inducing Twilight series, those vampire movies have had consistently tasteful soundtracks, full of emotional indie rock from some promising up-and-comers.
Case in point: the young British singer-songwriter Bobby Long, who in a fortuitous twist of fate met the actor/dreamboat/vampire Robert Pattinson playing the open mic circuit in London back in 2008. The two become friends and collaborators, and next thing you know, Long’s single “Let Me Sign” is sung by Pattinson over a crucial moment in the original Twilight film, which of course led to mass exposure, non-stop touring, etc.
The cool thing is, the kid deserves it. He’s an ace on acoustic guitar with a world-weary voice way beyond his years, and his attention to lyrical detail is on a Townes Van Zandt kind of level. His debut album A Winter Tale doesn’t come out until February, but you can get to know the folk troubadour via the video below, and if you go to Long’s website, you can grab a free download of the melancholy crowd-pleaser “Who Have You Been Loving.”
