Project, Virgin's magazine for the iPad, is now available

Project is a new magazine made specifically for the iPad (and in fact it isn't available in any other form). If this sounds familiar, it may be because there have been many reports that Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation would release an iPad-only newspaper at some point in the near future. It looks like Richard Branson's Virgin beat them to the punch, although do keep in mind that with Project being a magazine and all, the readership may not fully overlap.

Project's 'cover' is dynamic and movie-like (as seen in the video embedded after the break), and the first issue has Jeff Bridges on it.

Project the app is free, but each issue of the magazine will set you back $2.99. However, that's a one-time price for a whole month, and apparently you will get new content from time to time during that period.

Project will only work on iOS 4.2, so make sure you have the latest version of the operating system installed on your iPad before trying it.
