I don’t know how I missed this, but electro-punk grrrl Peaches debuted a one-woman version of Jesus Christ Superstar in Berlin this past March, and now, (just in time for the holidays?), it is coming to the States.
The Canadian-born artist has been obsessed with the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical since she was a kid. “When I was sixteen I often sang the whole musical to myself all alone in my room,” she reveals on her website. This version of the show is truly stripped down, with Peaches singing the whole darn thing herself, backed only by Chilly Gonzales, the Feist collaborator of recent iPad commercial fame, on piano.
I think you gotta really love Peaches and/or JCS to get into this one, but hey, Sir Andrew himself has endorsed the show! Check out the promo video below.
