Twidroyd Android Twitter client drops ads from the free version, adds online theme builder
Twidroyd is one of the oldest Twitter clients for Android, and quite possibly the most full-featured. The sheer number of options and possibilities may prove to be a turn-off for some, but this is one solid app. Not long ago, the developers decided to have two versions: a free, ad-supported one, and a paid, ad-free one. That apparently hasn't gone as well as they had hoped, since many people have complained about the way the ads were integrated into the app.
As a consequence, the free version of Twidroyd is now ad-free as well, at least until the developers are done reevaluating their business model, as they say they will. This makes the app's icon the only difference between the free version and the paid one at the moment, which is interesting, considering the Pro version costs $3.99.
Also new from Twidroyd is an online theme builder called Twidroyd Factory, that's available to anyone — to start creating new Twidroyd themes based on the existing ones, tweaking settings and colors here and there.
A new widget design is also present, as is integration with whatthetrend.com.
The newest version of Twidroyd is 4.3.2. It's now available in the Android Market in both free and paid versions. A QR code for the free version follows after the break.Continue reading Twidroyd Android Twitter client drops ads from the free version, adds online theme builderTwidroyd Android Twitter client drops ads from the free version, adds online theme builder
