CyanogenMod-7 RC brings Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the masses
CyanogenMod-7 — which brings Android 2.3 Gingerbread to more than two dozen supported devices — now has a release candidate. If you've been waiting for the popular Android remaster to shed its beta tag before flashing the new version, now's your chance!
CM7 is built on Android 2.3.2, so you're one update short of the NFC bits Google recently pushed — but that's no big loss, since there's a very good chance your phone lacks NFC hardware anyway. Inside CM7, you'll find a revamped music player, calendar app, and notification widget, Incognito mode for the Web browser, and a slew of additional tweaks and optimizations from the Cyanogen crew.
If you're tired of waiting for your Android device's OEM + carrier combo to deliver the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update and you're OK with a little firmware updating, grab the CyanogenMod 7 RC and get flashing!
