Although the cricket World Cup is now over, money and rewards for the winning Indian cricket players have only just started to pour in.
What’s the score on the riches that they’ve gathered? We tried to get an estimate based on reports from leading newspapers and news agencies.
The winner is by far team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who will be getting nearly $1 million in cash prizes, and will apparently be doubling his endorsement fee to upwards of $2 million per deal.
1. M.S. Dhoni

Cash: $920,000 total cash prizes from International Cricket Council, Board of Control for Cricket in India, Delhi government, and the Tamil Nadu government. (This is assuming that all “team” prizes are divided among 16 team-members, which include the coach and other support staff .)
Real Estate: Residential plot in Bangalore from the Karnataka  government, plus either a house or land in the hill town of Musoorie from the Uttarakhand government. Valuation unknown.
Car: Hyundai Verna worth at least $16,000 from Hyundai Motor Co.
Endorsements: Dhoni’s endorsement fee is expected to double from the current $1.3 million per deal per year.
Dhoni currently endorses upwards of 20 brands, including Sony India, Reebok and Aircel Ltd. Some of his recent endorsements are part of a two-year deal that he signed with two sports management companies which promised to get him endorsements of at least $42 million between July 2010 and July 2012.
Extras: Uttarakhand’s chief minister said a sports stadium will be built and named after Dhoni. Jharkhand’s chief minister said that a piece of land would be allotted to Dhoni to build a cricket academy and school. He will also be given an honorary doctorate even though he has not completed his graduation. Karnataka’s chief minister said he will name a road in Bangalore after Dhoni.
2. Sachin Tendulkar

Cash: $693,000 total cash prizes from ICC, BCCI, Maharashtra government, Tamil Nadu govt.
Real Estate: Residential plot in Bangalore, plus either a house or land in the hill town of Musoorie. Valuation unknown.
Car: A Hyundai Verna worth at least $16,000. But he might not have place in his home to keep this, because his garage is reportedly full to its capacity of 40 cars.
Endorsements: His endorsement rate is also expected to double from the current fee of around $1 million per deal per year.
In the first two months of this year, Tendulkar has signed three endorsement deals for nearly $9 million, including with Coca-Cola and a real estate company. Sports management companies expect more demand for his endorsement following the World Cup win.
3. Yuvraj Singh

Cash: $468,000 total cash prizes from ICC, BCCI, Punjab government and Tamil Nadu govt.
Real Estate: Residential plot in Bangalore.
Cars: Audi worth at least $72,000, plus Hyundai Verna worth at least $16,000
Endorsements: Singh had bumped up his endorsement fee by 30% ahead of the World Cup, and is now expected to boost that further to as much as $1 million per deal per year.
