Rumor: Lenovo to Introduce Android 3.0 Tablet This Summer

We’ve long been fans of Lenovo’s Android-based offerings, but couldn’t do more than gape at the few products they’ve brought out because they only launched them in limited regions (the United States not being one of them, of course). It seems that’s because they wanted bring a more fresh product to store shelves. This is my next claims to have gathered evidence of a new ThinkPad-branded Lenovo tablet that’ll run Android 3.0 and should be on store shelves this summer starting at $500. It has all the usual specs (plus a couple of extras like a digitizer and pen) you’d expect from a Honeycomb tablet, but I don’t want to get too excited about them due to several contradictions. For instance, one slide says to expect the usual 1280×800 IPS display that you see on most tablets, while another says the tablet will have a 1080p display. Furthermore, a stamp at the bottom of a few of these documents say they were drafted in 2009 – it’ now 2011.And Honeycomb wasn’t official until 2011. We’re sure Google wasn’t working on it in 2009, and even in the off chance that they were we’d have a hard time believing that Lenovo got the heads up that early.I obviously sound skeptical, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to see it – I just don’t think we should hold our breath for the time being. Let’s see if any more comes of this.
