2011 Fantasy Football Sleeper: Ben Obomanu

It’s always nice to have an edge in fantasy football and know some unknown players that your other league-mates might not know about.  In this article I’m going deep and letting you know about little known Ben Obomanu.
Coming out of the 2006 draft the Auburn Senior Obomanu, who  ran a 4.4 40, ended up being taken in the 7th round by the Seahawks.  After a few years on the practice squad and being in and out of the lineup, he finally got a chance last year to get some real playing time.
Obomanu started to come alive in week 10 with Brandon Stokley sitting out and caught 4 balls for 60 yards, that’s when the Seahawks found out he could play and he was promoted to #2 receiver.
Obomanu answered the promotion with 5 catches, 87 yards and a touchdown in the very next game.  Then in week 12, with #1 WR Mike Williams out with an injury, Obomanu came alive with 5 catches 159 and a score against Kansas City.
After this explosion, the next game Obomanu started with 2 catches for 40 yards before cutting his hand when he got hit by Charles Godfrey going through the middle of the field.  Obomanu was never the same the rest of the season.
Shortly after the Seahawks lost to the Bears in the playoffs they locked up Obomanu with a 3 year deal to keep him in Seattle until 2013.
Rightfully so, Ben Obomanu should get time to start opposite Mike Williams with Deon Butler playing the slot, the aging Brandon Stokley most likely departing and Golden Tate fading in the background.
Currently, Obomanu is ranked 74th among WRs according to Yahoo! and ESPN has him at 121 which is ridiculous for a #2 receiver.
Take him with confidence after round 10 and he wont disappoint as your #3 or #4 fantasy receiver.  He should put up over 800 yards and at least 5 touchdowns.
So with that in mind, good luck, happy mocking and look for more sleeper posts in the future.
