Cincinnati Bell turns on its 4G network, releases Huawei Ascend X 4G to go with it

You can add one more carrier to the “4G speeds” list. Cincinnati Bell just announced the launch of its 4G network. The small carrier claims its 4G network is twice as fast as the competition’s and three times faster than its own 3G network. If you’re curious to see whether Cincinnati Bell’s 4G network is really that fast, the company will gladly sell you its first 4G phone, the Huawei Ascend X 4G.
Like most Huawei devices, the Ascend X 4G is a mix between a high-end phone and a low-end one. Some specs that scream of budget-friendly, while others make the Ascend X 4G look like a premium phone. Those specs include:

Android 2.2 Froyo
4.1-inch screen
1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
512 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal storage
5 MP rear-facing camera
Front-facing camera
720p video recording
4G support
1400 mAh battery

Froyo? Come on, Huawei, you’re killing us. Aside from having a version of Android that’s more than a year old, we’re having a hard time finding anything else we hate about this phone. You’ll be able to get all these goodies for just $99 with a 2-year contract. And if you’re of the “uncommitted” type, you can get the Huawei Ascend X 4G for the affordable price of $249. You know the hardware and you know the price, all there’s left to know is whether you’ll buy it or not. So will you, Cincinnati Bell customers?
