Hitachi Unveils New 4.5-Inch 1280×720 3D IPS Displays for Smartphones

In case you thought this whole “3D thang” was going fade out, it might be later instead of sooner. Today, Hitachi showed off a new type of 3D display for smartphones, this time with a 1280×720 resolution. The IPS display measures in at about 4.5-inches and is using some kind of new lenticular lens approach which I can’t seem to wrap my head around. Either way, it’s better than the technology we’re using now.Hitachi says this new method allows for brighter more vivid pictures with images that actually look better in 3D than in 2D. I, for one, welcome the 3D trend with open arms. Who knows, maybe HTC will be packing these in the Evo 3D part deux next year.[Via TechCrunch]
