Mayor Mashes Mercedes to Punish Parking Perps

Vilnius, Lithuania, is the last place on earth where you want to park illegally.
Mayor Arturas Zuokas is beyond fed up with people shamelessly violating the city’s parking regulations. Being the mayor, he’s launched a campaign to crack down on the scofflaws. To prove he’s serious, Hizzoner crushed a Mercedes-Benz.
With an armored troop transport.
“It will be noted that if you have a car and more money [it] does not mean that they can park the car anywhere… you can not show disrespect for others,” the mayor said, according to a (rough) translation of a story in the local newspaper.
It also will be noted that the crushing was staged, filmed for a promotional clip highlighting the campaign. But Zuokas says the point remains: Everyone must follow the rules, even the rich. And who among us hasn’t wanted to punish that idiot taking two spots or, worse, blocking the bike lane exactly as Zuokas has?
