Rumor: Leaked Kindle Fire sales numbers point to biggest tablet launch ever

Earlier this week we shared some initial pre-order estimates for the Amazon Kindle Fire.  At the time, the outlook for a highly successful Kindle Fire debut was very high, but some new leaked sales numbers may actually be far greater than anyone could have imagined. If the sales figures turn out to be true, Amazon has already secured more than 250,000 preorders since last week. If the masses continue to order the Kindle Fire at this same rate, Amazon will accrue over 2.5 million preorders before the device launches in mid-November.
While we have a lot of faith in the Amazon Kindle Fire, we doubt Amazon will be able to sustain this pace for much longer. No matter how many more preorders Amazon is able to scrounge up over the next six weeks, it’s pretty clear that the Amazon Kindle Fire will have the most successful tablet launch in history.  The Kindle Fire may not have all the features as those fancy new Honeycomb tablets, but the $199 price tag makes up for any of the software or hardware shortcoming the device may have.
Do you think the Kindle Fire will be the must-have gadget this holiday season?
